the characters denounce the evils of their world in the 1930s and 1940s: hatred, authoritarianism, social inequalities, militarism, and anti-Semitism. As a "rebel backyard orchestra," we drew on a unique array of urban folk instruments (banjo, accordion, clarinet, bass drum, and tuba) and interwar poems by Polish poets, which became an inexhaustible source of inspiration and themes for us.
Importantly, on each album, we took our listeners 80 years back in time, striving to prove that (post)punk truly emerged from Kraków in the early 1930s, and that the war that broke out in 1939 was, in fact, won just a few months later.
In 2024, we performed at the Warsaw Autumn Festival with entirely contemporary material, breaking away from our historical context. It's time to sing about the present, though haven't we always done so?

In 2018, we were honored with the Polityka Passport Award „for the surprising effects of musical-literary-political reconstruction that creatively revives the folk and punk formulas while at the same time accurately describing conflicts and threats in today's Poland.”
In 2020, we received a Fryderyk Award in the World Music category for our album 1939. Almost all of our albums, except for the debut, have been nominated for the Fryderyk awards - most important awards of the Polish music industry.
